7 Fun Ideas for Stumps in Your Garden

Blog

If you have to cut down a tree in your yard or if the tree has already been felled, you can do all kinds of things with the stump. Looking for ideas? Feeling "stumped" creatively? Check out the following concepts:

Planter

While stumps may represent a dead tree, they can also be full of life. To turn your stump into a planter, start by hollowing out some of the wood. Then, add soil and put in flowers. For an easy process, buy and replant annuals; don't start from seed.

Kids' Game

With a bit of paint, you can easily turn a stump into a children's board game. Paint on a cheese board and add some hand-carved chess or checkers pieces. Alternatively, play with games such as snakes and ladders, tic-tac-toe or anything else that strikes your fancy.

Comfortable Chair

Large stumps can work as garden furniture. Just grab a chainsaw to carve a chair shape into your stump. Then, use a chisel or some hand tools for the details and smooth the texture with sand paper. If you have multiple stumps in the same area, consider creating a table and chair set.

Wall Art

If you cut the stump into a variety of discs, you can turn those pieces into wall art. You can paint them, engrave them, or glue found items onto them. To ensure the discs are removed carefully and evenly, you may want to hire someone who has experience with stump removal.

Walking Path Discs

In that same vein, you may want to turn a bunch of discs into a walking path. Simply line your path with rocks, then place down the discs. Consider filling the area between the discs with small gravel rocks. Alternatively, you can hire a stump removal professional to take out the stump and turn it into wood chips, which you can then place in garden beds, walking paths or other areas.

Bird Bath

Birds live in trees, but with some modifications, your stump can also attract some feathered friends. Turn your stump into a bird bath by adding a metal or stone bowl on top of the stump. Pour in some water and watch as birds come to splash and frolic in your yard.

Woodland Scene

You may want to turn your stump into a fun woodland scene. Invest in some items to decorate the stump, such as moss, stone rabbits, gnome figurines or whatever you like. Decorate your stump and enjoy.

Tree Removal Service Advice

Hey! I'm Keith. Are you looking for tree removal advice? If so you have come to the right place. Last year, I needed some advice about how best to deal with the trees in my yard. One of the trees had started to lean and I was very worried about it. In order to deal with the problem, I called in a professional tree service and asked them to take a look at it. The contractor wasted no time and quickly removed the tree. I was really pleased with the level of service I received and I would like to encourage others to contact their local tree service.
